                   What does your name means?

We’re an international longboard community created in Madrid in 2010 with the aim of getting more                       girls & women into the sport. We started shooting videos that inspired women to start skating, showing                     them that we could do it, how accessible it was and how much fun we had. We promoted all the girls                       we knew through the Facebook fan page and asked them to send their photos and videos, even though most of them (and us) were beginners or had nothing close to a PRO level. We also did gatherings, Girls Meets and events (contests, freerides) to promote women in the scene. We named the active girls in different countries LGC Ambassadors so that they promote the LGC values in their countries, supporting and inspiring newcomers all around the world. We put female longoarding in the map, got some international media attention and thanks to all this work combined we started not only to gain recognition for women but most importantly, we got thousand of women into the sport around the world.

How long have you been skating together? How did everything start?

Longboard Girls Crew Indonesia itself started in 2013.

Gemala Hanafiah, an Indonesian female pro surfer, played a major role in the formation of this crew. In August 2011, she and other fellow surfers tried longboard for the first time. After playing several times, they realized that surfing and longboarding are quite similar. They see longboarding can be an alternative activity for surfers who live in urban city and cannot go to the beach all the time.

As time pass by, more and more Indonesian girls know about longboarding and would like to play longboard. They organized  meet up, and practice session together in Jakarta. Until at some point they needed more information about longboarding, so they look up for an international longboard community and they found Longboard Girls Crew. As we all know, Longboard Girls Crew is an international longboard community created in Madrid in 2010.

From there, Gemala Hanafiah and Yona Yu initiated for us, Indonesian longboard girls to be become a crew and be part of the Longboard Girls Crew chapter Indonesia. Thus, our crew name is Longboard Girls Crew Indonesia.

Any wanted event attendance for the future?

Lombok Skate Trip 2018. One of the most awaited annual event by all Indonesian longboarders and even by those whom has visited Lombok. The skate experience is indescribable. The road, the speed, the view is just exquisite. Lombok has unique experience to offer for visitors to enjoy the real Indonesia.

Do you normally do skate trips (non events related)? Which one is the best for you?

We do sometimes. As we all live at different cities or provinces in Indonesia, we try to organize a fun trip to skate together as our meet. For example, Jakarta - Bandung is only 3-4 hours drive away. We visit each other and spend a full day at longboarding spot and skate park. We just want to have a good time and get away from our daily routine.

Any really wanted trips for the future?

Yes. We’re planning to have a Yogyakarta Skate Trip soon in January or February next year! A fun vacation meet up, girls united by the love of longboarding or skating a like.
